Prey

I really do like this film, and that’s why I find a couple of things disappointing. It really boils down to the CGI. I think people have become used to seeing things “in all their glory”, instead of being implied; the fact is I don’t want to see highly detailed fights with lions and bears and things when those things occupying the centre stage completely make me lose the suspension of disbelief because they’re just so obviously CGI. It upsets me more in this film because I think the traditional camera-led visual story-telling is often excellent.

I really like the protagonist a lot; she kicks arse, and the dog is a good girl. Ultimately I have to recommend it, of course!
